Food impacts everyone & everything, every day. Join us for an interactive cooking workshop exploring the connection between food, our health, and the environment.
Our current food system has deep ramifications on climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation and disease. The most powerful way to make a positive impact is changing how you eat.
But making any change to your diet can feel overwhelming; you might not know where to start, worry about getting all the nutrients or fear missing out on flavour & your favourite dishes. Join us for a fun, inspiring evening where we’ll help you confidently navigate this new world through a blend of theory and hands-on practice.
Beginners to cooking or seasoned chefs, we welcome everyone irrespective of skill level.
What you can expect:
Theory:
- Discover what a planetary health diet is, its benefits, and how it positively affects our health, climate, and environment.
- Discover how the current animal-heavy diets and food production negatively impact not just animals but also the environment, biodiversity, and the climate—and how adopting a plant-forward diet can contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.
- Learn the basics of plant-based cooking, how to stock your pantry, navigate your local supermarket, and easily reach your nutrient and calorie goals.
- Gain insights into thinking like a plant-based cook and how to successfully transition to this rewarding way of eating.
Practice:
- Watch Chef Anna Jacinda State demonstrate three dishes, complete with adaptable variations to keep your meals exciting.
- In pairs or small groups, you will try cooking the dishes yourself. Our chef and staff are on site for guidance.
Dinner & Q+A:
Over a delicious dinner, we end with an opportunity to answer questions, discuss reflections, and consider how we can integrate what we’ve learned into your daily life.
