Fucking Adopted by Nora Nivedita Tvedt (Norway, 2020)
Are you gonna find your “real” parents? Therese and Nora have no plans for that. They are both adopted from India and came to Norway as babies but have never talked about adoption together. Nora invites Therese into a box. They paint their skin white to look more Norwegian, teach each other to fight and try to figure out why it’s so difficult to say out loud “I am adopted!”
Colombia In My Arms by Jenni Kivistö & Jussi Rastas (Finland, 2020)
After decades of conflict in Colombia, the government signs a peace agreement with the leftist FARC guerillas. But the citizens of this deeply unequal society can’t seem to agree on what a better Colombia would be. A former FARC guerilla, a fiercely right-wing politician, a mysterious aristocrat and farmers cultivating coca struggle with moral ambivalence. The film reflects on universal themes such as colonialism and capitalism.
