Mohenjo Daro (English: Mound of the Dead Men) is an upcoming Indian epic adventure-romance film directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film is set in 2016 BC in the ancient city of Mohenjo-daro in the era of the Indus Valley civilisation. Centred on romance through the cultures and ancient civilisations of Mohenjo-daro, Gowariker took over three years to develop the film with the help of archaeologists who documented the discovery of Indus Valley civilisation. The soundtrack album and film score are composed by A. R. Rahman who has to his credit two Academy Awards (Oscars), two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards (India), fifteen Filmfare Awards (India) and thirteen Filmfare Awards South (India).
Ashutosh Gowariker, the Director of Mohenjo Daro, became a voting member for the Academy Awards (Oscars) in 2005 and is internationally acknowledged for his 2001 film Lagaan. It became the third Indian film to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and was one of the biggest box office hits of 2001. In 2010, the film was ranked No. 55 in Empire magazines "The 100 Best Films of World Cinema".In 2011, it was listed in Time magazine's special "The All-TIME 25 Best Sports Movies".
