HIYA WAL ÂALAM (Tunis/Berlin/Palestina)
Hiya Wal Âalam är ett nytt projekt och unikt samarbete mellan en grupp tunisiska och palestinska musiker som möter Olof Dreijer från svenska The Knife.
Traditionella nordafrikanska rytminstrument som bendir, djémbé och chkachek utgör musikens ryggrad, men här ryms också oud, violin, trumset och rototoms. Gruppen leds av kompositören och slagverkaren Houwaida Hedfi som tillhör en ny generation av alternativa musiker från Tunisien som efter den arabiska våren inte vill begränsa sig till en stil eller ett enda hantverk (för fler se till exempel samlingsskivan Sawtuha på Jakarta Records, 2014). Hon sitter lika välplacerad i producentstolen som hon skriver, sjunger och spelar. Elektroniska beats och akustiska melodier mixas upp med miljöljud och ordlös sång.
Hiya wal Âalams musik skär rakt in i spänningsfältet mellan en levd erfarenhet och drömmens fantasivärld. Det är fängslande, komplext och enkelt på samma gång. Musiken pendlar mellan intima melodier och ett intensivt uttryck. Parallellt med att Hiya wal Âalam turnerar i både Europa och USA under hösten spelar gruppen in sitt debutalbum i både Tunisien och Berlin. Skivan produceras av Olof Dreijer.
NURI (Tunis)
Amine Nuri är särskilt inbjuden gäst-dj (afro electro). Nuri har redan en lång karriär inom musik som trummis och slagverkare. Han har varit med och grundat flera uppmärksammade musikprojekt på den tunisiska undergroundscenen sedan 2004, i många olika genrer. Han är arbetar för närvarande med den experimentella forskningen i L’Atelier D och med musikkollektivet Chabbouba. Nuri är även verksam som stop-motionfilmare.
