Our biggest sign painting workshop to date!

In this two-day workshop you will get an introduction to basic hand lettering, brush lettering and sign painting.

Participants will be introduced to and taught the required technical skills before gaining practical experience of a variety of letterforms in the sign writers toolbox. These will include Block/gothic, Casual & Script styles with attention given to the importance of layout and letters.

It will be a practical, fun and creative workshop to try your hand at sign-writing and learn from three of the worlds best, Kenji Nakayama (Need Signs? Will Paint!, Boston), Peter "Letterboy" Liedberg (Tokyo Sign Co, Tokyo) and Ged Palmer (Lumnior Sign Co, London), all of them masters of the craft. Places are limited to 30 participants to ensure lots of individual tuition and coaching across the days. Hosted by Sthlm Signs.

The cost of the workshop includes:

Kenji Nakayama

Kenji Nakayama is a sign painter and fine artist from Hokkaido, Japan. He moved to the USA in 2004, and graduated from the sign painting course at the Butera School of Arts in 2006. After working in various Boston sign shops, he started his own business, Need Signs? Will Paint! and his fine art practice continues, often infused with sign and lettering elements.

Peter Liedberg
Peter Liedberg is a Swedish sign painter, designer, and lettering artist based in Tokyo, Japan. After studying graphic design, he discovered the world of hand painted signs and brush lettering in 2012. He has since dedicated many hours to the study of single stroke lettering styles.

Ged Palmer
Ged Palmer is a lettering artist & sign painter based in London
With over twelve years experience of working with letterforms Ged offers typography, calligraphy, lettering & sign painting to discerning clients in the UK and abroad. His work has been recognised by the International Society of Typographic Designers, the Type Directors Club and various publications worldwide.

Everything you need for the workshop will be supplied. If you have your own brushes or other equipment then feel free to bring it along. We will work with waterbased paint and water base sign painting brushes.

We will be working with a lot of paint across the whole workshop so wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

If you have anything that you areworking on and would like input on please bring it along with you. There will be lots of scope for bespoke support so make the most of it.

FRIDAY Pre gathering Movie night
Welcome to a screening of the documentary Sign painters the movie. Excellent opportunities to say hello to fellow participants, take a look at the venue and be inspired by the documentary film that helped start the new wave of sign painting around the world.

On Saturday we slip into a relaxed After paint BAR together with music and refreshments. For anyone who wants to continue painting or make a more in-depth visit to Sthlm Sign's studio, Welcome!
Snacks and drinks start at 17.00 and last as long as paint and drinks are available.

The workshops are in English and suits all skill levels.

Notes- No refunds are available once the ticket is booked. Transfer to another guest is possible.
