What is the King GameJam?

The King GameJam is a creative coding event that will be taking place in our central Stockholm studio. This is a great chance for you to show off your super sweet game making skills and develop an awesome game in a fun, creative, environment. The GameJam is arranged by King in cooperation with GJSthlm.

How does it work?

We’re looking for individuals to take on the King GameJam challenge and come up with an awesome game.

Participants will have one weekend to create their game.

This is a great chance to get a feel for the King creative experience! Participants will get to flex their imagination, meet super-talented people from around the industry and develop something awesome. If that sounds like your idea of fun, step right up.

When?

GameJam: 2^nd to 4^th of October 2015

Friday 2^nd of October - kick-off at 19.00 with food and drinks, team formation and jamming. Doors close at 02.00.

Saturday 3^rd of October – kick-off at 10.00 and all day jamming. Doors close at 02.00.

Sunday 4^th of October - kick-off at 10.00 and rounding off the jam around 18.00.

Where?

The GameJam will be held in our King studio in Sveavägen 44 in Stockholm.

To show off your great work after the jam we will open up a public vote on the games!

Do I sign up alone or as a team?

Sign up individually, the teams will be formed at the kick-off on Friday 2^nd of October.

Do I need to be physically at the King GameJam location to participate?

Yes. No online option to participate will be offered.

Do I need to bring my own computer to the event?

Yes. We will provide Wi-fi, and power but you must bring your own computer - and it must be Wi-fi enabled.

Does it cost anything to participate in the King GameJam?

No, it's completely free!

Does King get to keep my code or idea?

No, anything original which you create is all yours, you own it. We have no intention or desire to use your submission for our business and we are not even keeping copies of the submissions after the event and the public vote has finished.

What should I bring?

Wi-fi enabled computer and any software and other hardware you wish to use.

King Game Jam Rules

1. HOW TO ENTER

1.1 To participate, visit https://billetto.se/king-game-jam to register and apply for a Game Jam place. Places are limited and will be allocated by King in its sole discretion. Teams will be formed at the Game Jam. If you are successful in your application for a place you will be invited to the Game Jam event by email, to the email address provided in your application.

1.2 The Game Jam will run from 7.00pm on Friday 2 October 2015 until 6.00pm on Sunday 4 October 2015 (the “Game Jam Period”).

All parts of the Game Jam event will take place at King’s central Stockholm studios. King’s studios will be available:

• a)from 7.00pm on Friday 2 October until 2.00am on Saturday 3 October;
• b)from 10.00am on Saturday 3 October until 2.00am on Sunday 4 October; and
• c)from 10am until 6.00pm on Sunday 4 October.

Entrants are free to work on their game overnight, but please note that King’s studios will not be available for use during this time. This time shall be considered part of the Game Jam Period.

1.3 Whilst you are in King’s studio during the Game Jam Period, King will provide snacks, lunch, evening meal, office space and internet connection, as well as breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Entrants will be required to bring their own Wi-Fi enabled equipment. Each Entrant is responsible for their own equipment and it is their responsibility to ensure it is removed at the end of the Game Jam Period.

1.4 At the close of the Game Jam Period, you will be asked to deliver a working prototype of your game (your “Game”). Each team (be it an individual or a group of entrants) may enter only one Game.

1.5 In order to ensure the protection of your intellectual property, any equipment and/or any other material related to the Game Jam which is left behind by any entrant will be destroyed after the Game Jam Period. King shall retain a copy of all submitted Games, from the close of the Game Jam Period until the conclusion of the public vote (see paragraph 5 below), but once over these shall be destroyed.

1.6 By submitting a Game, you agree that it conforms to the Guidelines and Restrictions set out below.King may disqualify you from the Game Jam if it believes, in its sole discretion, that your Game fails to conform to any part of the Guidelines and Restrictions.

• 2.ELIGIBILITY

2.1 The Game Jam is open to any person who is aged 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. Employees of King or its affiliates, subsidiaries, or advertising and promotion agencies as well as those employees’ families are ineligible.

2.2 By participating in the Game Jam, you are agreeing to comply with these Game Jam Rules.

3. GUIDELINES AND RESTRICTIONS

3.1 Your Game must be original and coded during the Game Jam Period only.

3.2 Your Game must be a mobile or browser-based game which is playable.

3.3 You may use third party resources to create your Game provided that you have all rights and permissions necessary in order for you (and, if applicable, your team) to use that resource in your Game. By including any such resource in your Game you are promising to King that you have such rights and permissions.

3.4 Your Game must not contain anything illegal, defamatory, harassing, indecent, obscene or morally offensive.

4. ABOUT TAKING PART

4.1 King acknowledges that all original intellectual property which you create as part of the Game Jam shall belong to you or your team.

4.2 King reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it believes in its sole discretion that the entrant has:

• a)breached any of these Game Jam Rules, any applicable law (including copyright law) or has otherwise infringed the intellectual property of any other person;
• b)behaved fraudulently; or
• c)otherwise behaved in an unsportsmanlike manner.

In the event that such entrant is a member of a team, King may decide in its sole discretion to disqualify the entire team.

4.3 You promise that all of the information which you provide to us in connection with this Game Jam shall be and shall remain complete and accurate.

5. PUBLIC VOTE

5.1 King may enter certain Games into an online public vote (the “Public Vote”). The Public Vote winner shall be decided upon by a public vote promoted via one or more of King’s online channels.

5.2 The winning Game shall be that Game which receives the most votes.

5.3 The Public Vote winning Game will be announced promptly following the close of the public vote. All members of the Public Vote winning team shall receive a small trophy. King shall contact the winning team or individual by email to tell them that they have won. In the event that the winning team or individual does not respond to claim their trophy within 30 days, an alternative winning Game may be selected in the same manner as the original winning Game.

GENERAL RULES ON WINNERS AND PRIZES

5.4 King may, acting in its sole discretion, decide to promote additional teams and/or Games over and above the Public Vote winner.

5.5 All prizes are non-transferable and cannot be exchanged.

5.6 In the event that any individual or team who submits the Game which wins any prize is disqualified from the Game Jam, an alternative winning Game may be selected in the same manner as the original winning Game.

5.8 You may request the last name and country of the winner(s) by sending an email to kinggamejam@king.com. By entering this Game Jam, you give us permission to make your last name and country available in this way if you win.

6. CONFIDENTIALITY

6.1 “Confidential Information” means any information that would be regarded as confidential by a reasonable person relating to the business, affairs, customers, clients, or suppliers of King.

6.2 Ideally you will not come into any contact with any Confidential Information during the Game Jam, but if you do, you agree that you shall not, at any time during the Game Jam and for a period of 5 years following it, disclose to any person any Confidential Information.

7. PERSONAL INFORMATION

7.1 We are registered with the data protection authority in Malta.

7.2 We will only collect, process, use and share your personal information as necessary to run the Game Jam and/or as set out in these Game Jam Rules. Without limiting the foregoing, you agree that we may use your data for the purposes of prize fulfilment and promotion. You agree that we may hold it for a reasonable period after the Game Jam closes to assist King with operating the Game Jam and to deal with any queries, for recruitment opportunities or to tell you about exciting future plans.

7.3 By registering for the event, you give your consent to us collecting, processing, using and sharing your personal data in this way.

7.4 You agree that we may use your name as well as any photos and video footage that we take of you and/or your Game for promotional and marketing purposes in any and all media.

8. GENERAL TERMS

8.1 We accept liability for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence or that or our employees or agents, and for losses or harm caused by fraud by us or our agents, or any other liability which may not by law be excluded.

8.2 For any losses or harm (other than those mentioned in paragraph a), in any period of twelve months, we will only be responsible for losses or harm which are a reasonably foreseeable consequence of our negligence or breach of these Game Jam Rules up to £500. Losses and harm are foreseeable where they could be contemplated by you and us at the time of you agreeing to these Game Jam Rules.

8.3 You agree that King’s decisions will be final and binding on all matters related to this Game Jam.

8.4 In the unfortunate event that King has to end the Game Jam early due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, King may determine the winner(s) from among all eligible entries received up to the time of such action using the procedure outlined above.

8.5 The Game Jam and these Game Jam Rules shall be interpreted and construed in accordance with English law.
