Kasai Allstars är en supergrupp bestående av ungefär femton musiker från fem olika band från Kongos Kasairegion. Deras gemensamma musik är en mix av stilar, instrument och rytmer som vissa anser omöjliga att förena med varandra – utom just hos Kasai Allstars.
Resultatet av samarbetet är oemotståndligt gatuskitigt. De svävande gitarrerna, i lager på lager, som har funnits med sedan Docteur Nico och soukousens födelse. Balafoner, tunga rytmer och elektrifierade likembes (tumpianon) för tankarna till Konono N° 1, Staff Benda Bilili och andra grupper från den samtida musikscenen i Kinshasa.
Det var genom skivserien Congotronics som flera av grupperna nådde ut till en internationell publik. Den tredje skivan i serien var Kasai Allstars album med den anmärkningsvärda titeln ”In the 7th Moon, the Chief Turned Into a Swimming Fish and Ate the Head of His Enemy by Magic”. Sedan dess har medlemmar från bandet deltagit i samarbetet Congotronics vs Rockers, där de kongolesiska musikerna spelade tillsammans med medlemmar från alternativa rockakter som Deerhoof, Wildbirds & Peacedrums och Skeletons. De har också hunnit släppa sitt andra album, det kritikerhyllade ”Beware the Fetish”.
Hösten 2017 turnerar Kasai Allstars inte med ett nytt album utan i samband med släppet av Alain Gomis prisbelönta spelfilm Félicité, ett porträtt av Kinshasas superintressanta musikscen, där gruppen spelar några av de centrala rollerna – och står för en stor del av det fuzzboxmättade soundtracket.

The first thing to do is check your spam/junk filters and inboxes. Your tickets were sent as an attachment and can be thought of as spam by some email services.
