Survivors är en närgången och omskakande film om utbrottet av ebola i Sierra Leone under 2014. Regisserad av ett kollektiv av filmskapare, berättar filmen om hur komplicerad situationen var, bortom själva sjukdomen. I filmen följer vi volontärerna och vårdgivarna på plats med en av regissörerna, Arthur Pratt, som narrativ konduktör.
Arthur kommer till Stockholm för att berätta mer om filmen och samtala med Johan von Schreeb, läkare på Karolinska Institutet och grundare av Läkare Utan Gränser Sverige. Johan var även samordnare av de internationella stödåtgärderna i Sierra Leone 2014. Samtalet modereras av Anneli Eriksson från Läkare Utan Gränser

I Survivors får vi möta de personer som riskerade sin egna liv för att rädda andras när ebolan härjar som värst i Sierra Leone. Tack vare unikt material filmat av filmare från Sierra Leone blir berättelsen ärlig och hjärtlig, men också en mer komplex skildring av landet och folket som upplevde denna svår epidemi. Filmarna har följt de personer som jobbat med epidemin och dess offer på olika vis och vi får möta dem i deras dagliga liv.
Men filmen skildrar inte bara hur epidemin sliter sönder familjer och ödelägger samhällen, den visar också hur infrastrukturen brister och djupa missförstånd mellan hjälporganisationer och de människor de är där för att hjälpa. Filmen berättar också om olösta politiska konflikter och spänningar som finns kvar efter det inbördeskrig som länge plågat landet.Det blir tydligt att överlevande hamnar i en djup konflikt med vad det innebär att vara från Sierra Leone när man hamnar i ett så otroligt kritiskt läge som detta.

Visningen sker i samarbete med Läkare Utan Gränser (MSF) och hölls på deras högkvarter. Biljetter finns till försäljning på länken ovan, 10% av alla intäkter går till Läkare Utan Gränsers verksamhet.
TILLGÄNGLIGHET: Lokalen är rullstolsanpassad med små trösklar och stora toaletter och igångar.

During our first screening in 2019 we will learn more about the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone from the perspective of the local volunteers and health care providers working to control the disease.
