De ville göra tung och svängig Electronic Body Music à la D.A.F., men något gick snett. Visst, där finns de primitiva synthljuden och trummorna i stenhårda marschrytmer. Men samtidigt är göteborgstrion Vanligt Folk så utomordentligt skruvad att de blir mycket mer än en nostalgitripp för svartklädda synthare. Influenser från dancehall och dub möter punkigt kaos och en trummis som smattrar loss frenetiskt, stundtals med både skor och huvud istället för stockar. Teman som nationalism, rasism och hambons betydelse för 1900-talets svenska arbetarklass kan skönjas i texter som är lika bisarra som briljanta – som en feberinducerad mardröm i en Roy Andersson-film. Under våren släpper Vanligt Folk nya albumet Allt E’nte, en skiva som gruppen ser som ett svar till kravet på politisering av musikaliskt uttryck: ”Vår förhoppning är att Allt E’nte är lika inaktuell om 200 år som den är idag”.
