Hand Balance:
-Physical Preparation to ensure resilience and longevity, as well as help acclimate the body to the physical demands of the training.
-How to refine the form and balance of the base handstand so that it leads into advanced skills more easily. It's about the details here, and many are easily overlooked.
-Adding in some complexity to the base balance to test the focus and reflexes. This is a must to solidify the basics properly.
-Common positions and transitions between different handstands.
-Intermediate level skills such as press handstand, handstand pushups, and the mexican handstand
-Progressions towards the One Arm Handstand.
Movement/Actobatics
-Physical preparation for an acrobatics session.
-Learning how to jump, land and fall safely. Being comfortable with falling is something many adults lack. In acrobatic training and in life, you will fall, so being able to do it with comfort and safety is the best way to reduce risk of injury.
-Learning how to build momentum and different ways to spread out and dissipate the impact of landing(especially useful on hard floor)
-Skill work, which can start with refinement of the details in the basic moves and moving on to more int/adv tricks and combos.
-Learning the difference between gymnastics and capoeira style acrobatics.
-Ultimately, acrobatics is about learning party tricks, which is fine. However there is a value here for anyone when it comes to learning how to fall, orient yourself, and deal with the fear.
-Mobility/Flexibility
This can be a big limiting factor for adults, as mobility restrictions can make the above skills much more difficult to learn.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, being hypermobile can sometimes increase risk of injury when attempting the above skills.
We will go into the many different types of flexibility, how they complement and differ from each other, and how to approach them from a physical and psychological standpoint.
