It's taboo. It's messy. It's complicated. Oftentimes rife with fear, guilt, avoidance, or resentment, money can become inextricably linked with our self-worth, making many of us feel we never have (or are) "enough." While some of us trust that our financial needs will be cared for, others may have an existential fear that there simply is not enough, and we'll always be lacking. Where do we learn these money mindsets from, and how can they evolve?

Let's talk about money - what we love, what we fear, and what it takes to relate to money from a healthy and empowered place.

Preparation - Reflection Questions: 

All Dinners start with an intimate set of introductions, where each guest shares her stories and is deeply heard. Before the dinner, take a few minutes to reflect upon the following questions. Look at these as more as soft guidelines vs questions we'll be directly answering in our conversation.

• What mindsets, stories, and beliefs have you inherited? How are they impacting your life today?
• What emotions come up when you think about money (eg, getting paid, asking for a raise, investing, donating)
• What do you want to change about your relationship to money moving forward?

About your Hosts

Uditi Shah

I am a facilitator and organizational designer. I've previously worked as a creative lead, graphic designer and illustrator. I'm passionate about ideas and storytelling! Some of my other hobbies are cooking and food based experiences, + I sketch while traveling and like being out in nature.

I've been hosting events - both virtual and in-person - with Dinner Confidential regularly since December 2020. This community has given me the gift of connecting with and learning from other people around the globe via meaningful conversations - something that I really enjoy. Raised in Mumbai, India, I moved to Stockholm in 2014. With feet firmly in both cultures while in neither at the same time, I aim to create a warm, global atmosphere to my Between Us circles. 

Akvile Marciukaityte

Raised in Vilnius, Lithuania, I have spent most of my twenties living abroad in places like the UK, Australia, Germany, and now Sweden. I am halfway through my Master's program at Hyper Island, exploring the intersection between human-centered design, business, and technology. 

I also work on business transformation projects helping teams to adopt new ways of working. I'm passionate about lifelong learning, community building, and cross-cultural collaboration. You can often find me in museums, art galleries, cozy coffee shops, or wandering around Stockholm during my free time. I joined Between Us in February 2022 as a co-host to create meaningful connections and help the community grow.

More about us and the format of our gatherings ...

During our intimate dinners (6-10 max), our experienced hosts create a welcoming container for people to come together and talk with vulnerability and honesty about our most personal topics and emotions (eg self-confidence, fear, control).

After each dinner, we identify the key learnings and insights from the night and share them with our community so they, too, can benefit from the experience. We never share personal stories, those are strictly confidential.

We have hosted dinners in over 35 cities around the world, including New York, Miami, Toronto, Nairobi, Caracas, Rome and Perth. New cities coming soon.

FAQs

Do attendees know each other?

Sometimes. But usually, they do not and that's part of the magic. Coming into a place full of strangers to open up and share some of your most personal experiences is very powerful. No one attending knows your history, you are a blank canvas. People will not judge you or give you advice (unless you specifically ask for it). We are there to listen, share and connect.

Is this open to all ages and backgrounds?

Yes. Actually, the more variety we have in ages, backgrounds, and perspectives the most interesting the conversation. Everyone is welcome.

How much are the dinners and what's included?

Virtual dinners are free. In-person dinners charge a nominal fee to cover the cost of the food and any material. In Stockholm, dinners cost 100SEK and include a nourishing vegan meal. We invite our guests to bring one thing to drink (wine, flavored water, etc.). Note that we are NOT making any profit from these evenings and the fee only covers the cost. However, if 100 SEK is more than you can contribute at the moment please contact me and we'll work it out :) 

Do the meals follow certain dietary guidelines?

In Stockholm, the meal is 100% plant based. If you have further specific dietary restrictions, be sure to add them during checkout.

How do you keep confidentiality?

We include a vow of confidentiality in our invitation, and reiterate the importance of confidentiality at the start of each dinner. We create a strong container of trust and integrity and expect the same from all of our participants.

What's your cancellation policy?

We put a lot of love and effort into these dinners so please do your best to avoid a last minute cancellation. If you need to cancel, try to find a replacement. All cancellations made less than one week in advance can not be refunded.
